Module 7: Axial Loading (1/28/09)

Axial loading forms the basis of our stress analysis in this course. It's an important topic, for sure, but it also introduces us to the language of stress and strain derivations for real structures. In this chapter, we only consider simply 1-d problems, but we'll use some of the tools introduced here to derive governing equations for more complicated scenarios later in the course.
