If there is one thing that can be said about FETC, it’s that Twitter use was off the charts. Several educators were able to follow what is happening at FETC just via Twitter without ever setting one foot on site. FETC 2012 was no different. With the constant stream of information coming through via hashtag FETC it was almost impossible to not know the sessions that were taking place or the products that were gaining the audience’s interest. For Livescribe, FETC is always one of the most exciting edtech conferences because of the Twitterverse surrounding it.
To celebrate and to encourage educators to continue using 21st Century tools in the classroom, @LivescribeK12 hosted two Tweetaways. Wednesday marked the first full day for the tradeshow floor- and also our first Tweetaway. Though we had a variety of great responses the tweetaway winner is the one with the first answer.
Julie Hagen was our winner for Wednesday. Julie is a SPOKES Instructor and Technology Integration Specialist at RESA 5. SPOKES is a job readiness program in Parkersburg, WV. Currently she is also working on a Master’s degree in Adult Education. She states, “I plan to use my Livescribe Smartpen to help my students gain skills and knowledge needed to succeed through 21st Century technology.” Our day two winner came all the way from the UK. Kieron Hunt from West Midlands! With the new smartpen Kieron will record class notes and offer pencasts to students so that instruction is available after class. As “newbies” to both Twitter and FETC we are excited to support their work in the K12 community.
