According to the National Center for Learning Disabilities, 2.5 million public school students were identified as having learning disabilities in 2009. The most prevalent of these disabilities is dyslexia.* A parent-student team in Wichita, Kansas has found a way for students with dyslexia to leverage the smartpen and pencasts to relieve the pressure of capturing an entire lesson in only one class period. “In school, with the Livescribe pen I am able to go back and listen to it again instead of having the pressure of hearing it once in class and then that’s the only time I can hear it,” says Anna Farha, a student at Wichita Collegiate.
