Employee Spotlight: Meet our Marketing Manager

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Karen Lee

Meet Karen, our marketing manager at Livescribe. When Karen isn't pretending to pose for iPod billboards, she's working at Livescribe or watching The Hills.

What do you do at Livescribe?
I’m the Sr. Marketing Manager and help run marketing activities, campaigns and programs ranging from word-of-mouth to online/social to college marketing. I focus on how we can reach and educate people who have never heard about Livescribe; at the same time, I also spend a lot of time building and engaging our growing community of Pulse smartpen owners and fans.

What’s your favorite part of working for Livescribe?
I love my marketing team. We’re all really different, but we work hard and have fun working together in that dorky tech start-up kind of way.

Also, I love that there’s always something new and challenging with an evolving, growing company like Livescribe.

Where is the strangest place you’ve taken your Pulse smartpen?
Hmmm - is this a trick question?! I take my Pulse everywhere with me, which means I end up giving spontaneous Pulse smartpen demos everywhere I go…like this one time at a retirement dinner party. It was really random!

Who is someone what you’d love to have coffee with?
Michael Jordan. He’s such a legend and I absolutely admired him, along with Lisa Leslie, when I was growing up playing basketball. I had posters of him everywhere in my room.

If you could listen to a pencast on any subject, what would it be?
Social psychology! As a psychology major, I am fascinated by the unexplainable and why people behave or act the way they do.

Describe your handwriting in 5 words or less.
Hybrid of cursive and manuscript.

Any words of wisdom or tips and tricks for Pulse users?
When I’m attending a webinar, I hook up and wear my 3D recording headset with my Pulse, so I can record the audio from the phone and sync it with my notes. That way I can tune out and multi-task during the webinar. If I hear something interesting, I make an audio bookmark and listen to it again after the webinar - just in case I missed something important.
