Tips and Tricks: Relink Audio to New Notes

Monday, April 20th, 2009

For those situations when you can’t write every single detail, the feature of relinking audio to new notes is really handy.

With your Pulse smartpen, you can listen to your audio recordings by tapping on your notes. While the audio is playing, you can write down additional notes  in your notebook and the audio will automatically link to your new notes.

Livescribe to Award over $10K in College Scholarships and Pulse Smartpens

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Livescribe is offering an easy and fun way for college students and college-bound high school seniors to win over $10,000 in scholarships and Pulse smartpens with a Facebook application called “Where are you going to college?”

The “Where are you going to college?” application is an interactive map that allows Facebook users to see whose going to their college, and what schools their friends are going to.

Here’s how you can enter:

1. Go to: www.livescribe.com/mapyourcollege

2. Put your college on the interactive map

3. Write and submit a witty story or personal aspiration (a short blurb under 140 characters) on how you’ll make your mark in college for a chance to win a $1,500 scholarship and a Pulse smartpen.

The college with the most students on the Livescribe College Map will win up to 200 Pulse smartpens, so even if you’re not in college anymore, at least you can help your alma mater win by putting yourself on the  map.

How They Use Pulse: Jon Dale, SAMBA

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Post written by Jon Dale, marketing guru, serial entrepreneur and gadget-fiend. Connect with Jon on his blog, Twitter, or LinkedIn.

As the self-appointed Minister of Really Cool Gadgets here at SAMBA (Seth Godin’s Alternative MBA Program), I get to try out lots of exciting new toys. Sorry, I mean “productivity tools. ” Seth just returned from TED, where he received a Livescribe Pulse smartpen.

I have to say this is one of the best gadgets I’ve ever played with.  Pulse is slightly thicker than a regular pen and is used with special notebooks.  The notebooks are very reasonably priced and are available from Amazon/Target or directly from Livescribe.  I just ordered a couple of Moleskine-like notebooks specifically designed for Pulse.

Here are some of the benefits of the Pulse smartpen:

Livescribe Desktop can search and highlight words within my handwritten notes

I use the smartpen every day while taking notes in our sessions.  It’s completely changed the way I takes notes.  I don’t worry about getting all the details, just the key concepts, because I know I’m able go back and listen to exactly what I was hearing at any point in my notes.

I won’t be giving Pulse back to Seth any time soon.
