Pulse Helped Me Study

We’re excited to share a story with you from Zara, a college student who is using a beta version of Pulse. Enjoy!

Zara wrote:

I just wanted to mention that Pulse REALLY helped me study for my math midterm today (which I aced). I was worried that the smartpen might just be one of those gadgets you think you’re going to use, and then it ends up sitting in a drawer, but I really used it. My professor is really hard to learn from in lecture because he stands in front of the board, so I can’t see problems, and his handwriting is illegible. I ended up using Pulse to go over my notes when I finally got frustrated with them, and it was amazing!

My professor’s lecture suddenly became totally understandable when I could listen to his anecdotes alongside my own handwriting, and I realized what a good teacher he is. Now I understand that almost all of the communication problems we have are just because he’s practically blind, can’t see what he’s writing, and has to stand so close to the board. I wish he’d just use overheads, though.

As I constantly repeat, I am amazed by the Pulse and think it would be invaluable for college students. If only I had it before, I would have aced that Industrial Pharmacy exam that we had yesterday. Not a single question was asked from the notes we took, all were from the side conversations we had with the teacher. That’s where the Pulse would’ve shined.

    Oh stop torturing us!

Yes, yes. We each want a Pulse.

    Ship it!

  3. joe14 Says:

Can’t wait to get my own.I hope that they will start shipping to Europe soon :D

  4. Europe?!?!? Says:

How about they start shipping to AMERICA?!??!!? Don’t look for this until MAY 1st…EARLIEST!!!!! Notice, no emails, no updates. You think they would want to start charging people and getting orders prepared two weeks before the supposed-ready-date, don’t you? Prepare for yet another disappointment

  5. Rev. Nathan Madison Says:

The pluse pen would have really helpped with my Church history and world view exams taken today.
Can’t wait to get one of my own.

  6. WoooHooo 16 more days! Says:

Until they tell us it’s shipping in June!!!!!!

  7. Craig Says:

Well LS, can you confirm shipment on the 31st since we are now less then 2 weeks away and you must clearly know if it will be shipping by now?

  8. Open Letter to the CEO Says:

    Jim,

You gave us a wonderful update at the end of last month, yet we’ve heard nothing from you since. This is a bit more than troublesome since 1) it was clearly expressed by many posters that an update would be welcome and 2) your team still holds to the March 31 ship date when you honestly know that this is now an impossibility.

What you should do is come clean, admit another delay and give an HONEST (not what you HOPE for) assessment of where things stand. If we have to wait until June, WE WILL, but I can assure you that many, many people will not forgive a lack of honesty and forthright information.

    Please advise your thoughts…

    Richard

    I’m waiting patiently, kinda.

  10. Chip Says:

    Here, here !!!!!!

  11. One Week! Says:

We are now ONE WEEK from ship date. Your front page even notes “Shipping in March.” It seems you should really get info out to us on how to pay ASAP so you can be on time.

  12. Ken Says:

How about letting us as beta user? Even if you need me to write a weekly usage report besides paying for the pen. You may also need tester for the to-be-available online system for the sharing of pulse-written material, right? I’m also willing to be alpha or beta user of CDK and even SDK to help making them release in earliest possible to all Pulse fans.

I’m not in US, which is sad knowing I have to wait much longer than all posters above. But I’ll be happy if I can join in to help i18n the Pulse pen.

  13. Craig Says:

It sure was a great idea to start the blog but I thought the point was to keep the interested parties informed regularly and not just pop your head up when you wanted to… Ya’ll ready to admit it isn’t shipping in March yet?

  14. Matt Says:

I’m SO disappointed in that oh-so-pleasant way. Christmas has been delayed, I take it?

You know, I find myself feeling like I should spam your pre-order form because I’m distrustful that you’ll honor my first pre-order (many months ago now). Could you at least send me an email letting me know where I am in line? I imagine I’m questioning this now because of the gap between your commitments and your actions on shipping the pulse.

I’m on the same page as Richard - please advise us of the status, however painful.

    Matt

All - It’s with great frustration that I arrive at this blog post.

    1. I saw this product at on a CES video back in January. I went to the site, registered and made note of the March launch (that would be by Monday).

    2. I’ve not received any emails about a delay. I’ve not received any emails from you guys period. I search and search for the pen (because I couldn’t remember your name). I found someone else’s blog post and got to livescribe.com - Where in the world was the link to this blog??? See Geoff Livingston’s post on revamping your site. http://www.livingstonbuzz.com/blog/2008/03/07/tear-down-the-web-site

    3. I go to Facebook to see what’s going on, I find a link back to this blog, and Poof! You’ve gone Radio Silent.

    4. Knock knock!! Hello? This does NOT fair well on our consumer expectations for how we’ll be treated post-launch.

Listen to Richard above, we’ll understand. Just tell us what the frig is going on. Involve us if you’d like, but at least inform us.

Please don’t wait until Monday 3/31 to tell us something. And when you do , tell here on your blog, send to your email list, Facebook group, etc…

    Please,
    Dave
